Apple is all set to hold its biggest annual product launch event on September 10, where it will reveal the latest iPhones, watches, and AirPods, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Although the company hasn’t officially announced the date, sources say Apple is preparing for the event, which falls on a Tuesday. The new phones are expected to go on sale on September 20, following Apple’s typical release schedule in recent years. A representative from Apple, based in Cupertino, California, declined to comment on these plans.

This launch is critical for Apple, as it has experienced slow sales of its smartphones and wearable devices in recent quarters. If Apple releases the new iPhone 16 on September 20, it will help boost the company’s revenue in the current fiscal fourth quarter, where Apple expects a 5% increase in sales from last year.

A larger portion of sales will likely come in the next quarter, which aligns with the holiday season. Analysts predict that revenue will rise by 7%, reaching $128.4 billion during this period.

The iPhone 16 will feature larger screens on its Pro models and new camera capabilities, including a dedicated button for taking photos. Apple is also introducing a suite of artificial intelligence tools called Apple Intelligence. However, the new phones will not be drastically different from last year’s models.

Major Updates Coming for Apple Watches and AirPods

Apple is making significant changes to its wearable devices. The Apple Watch Series 10 will be thinner and will have larger screens. Apple is also updating its AirPods lineup with new low-end and mid-tier versions. For the first time, the mid-level AirPods will offer noise cancellation, and the entry-level model will receive its first update since 2019.

Apple plans to start transitioning its Macs to M4 chip later this year. Usually, Mac updates arrive about a month after the annual iPhone launch. To prepare for this, Apple has increased testing on four new Mac models to ensure they work well with third-party applications, as shown in developer test logs obtained by Bloomberg News. This testing is a crucial step before launching the new Macs. The models are identified as “16,1,” “16,2,” “16,3,” and “16,10.”

These models will feature base-level M4 chips. Three models will have 10-core CPUs, while one entry-level version will include eight cores, affecting performance. The 10-core models will also have 10-core GPUs, whereas the eight-core model will have an eight-core graphics engine. These Macs will offer either 16 or 32 gigabytes of memory.

The 10-core CPU will match the M4 processor specifications used in the iPad Pro, including four high-performance cores and six efficiency cores. However, one of the chips identified in the developer logs will have only eight cores, split evenly between high-performance and efficiency cores.

Bloomberg News has reported that smaller Mac mini models, new MacBook Pros, and updated iMacs with M4 chips are expected later this year.
