China is set for an AI Revolution as cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan integrated DeepSeek into their government services. Across China, the government has launched online services integrated with the homegrown AI model to enhance their productivity.

Guangzhou had already started incorporating the R1 and V3 AI models of DeepSeek into its public web portals to improve services. According to a report published by the city’s government, the use of technology would be to explain policies to citizens, handle hotlines, and improve the workflow.

Shenzhen, which is China’s tech hub, has fully incorporated the AI model across all government departments using a secure cloud platform. A state news agency stated, “fully implement the DeepSeek AI model across all government departments using a secure cloud platform”.

The report also mentioned that the local government is holding training sessions all over the city to teach officials to use the technology efficiently.

Nanfang Daily, a local newspaper, stated that the senior officials had “watched reports on DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng”.

At Zhengzhou, senior city officials attended a training session on Sunday led by an AI expert from Beijing’s Tsinghua University. At the session, An Wei, secretary of the Communist Party said, “Deeply study and master the use of AI models such as DeepSeek, and make full use of AI to support decision-making, analysis and problem-solving”.

Similarly, Suzhou has also held training sessions for the same. Other cities like Wuxi and Ganzhou have also integrated the AI model with the online government services of the city. The Ganzhou municipal party took to its social media account and stated that DeepSeek would “promote AI as an efficient assistant in government work”.

DeepSeek, based in Hangzhou, has gained recognition for its ground-breaking V3 and R1 AI models that compete with leading chatbots like OpenAI and Google Gemini, with a lower training cost. The company’s growing popularity has also earned censorship in some countries like the US, Italy, South Korea and Australia for alleged data breaches.
