Razer Launches New App for Playing PC Games on Your Phone

A few years ago, when I got my first Android phone, I dreamed of using it to play the same games I had on my PC. Today, that dream is a reality, but there are still some limitations. There are many ways to play PC games or stream them to your phone’s screen, and now Razer has introduced another option.

How Razer PC Remote Play Works

Razer PC Remote Play App

Razer’s new app, Razer PC Remote Play, is still in beta and can be used through the Razer Cortex application on your PC. This app isn’t a complete and fully integrated solution; it’s more like a basic remote access tool with some gaming features added. One of the key features is the integration with Razer’s Kishi mobile controller series. The app can stream your entire PC screen or create a virtual window for a game to save bandwidth. It will automatically adjust to your phone’s resolution and refresh rate.

Limitations and Alternatives

To use this app, your PC and phone must be on the same local network. Once you set up the connection through your Razer account, it should be possible to play over mobile data. However, I couldn’t manage to get it working with my mobile connection.

Many gamers who want to try this app already have other ways to stream games, like Steam’s streaming system or Nvidia’s GeForce Now, which offers a more hands-off approach to streaming games you already own. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Razer’s PC software, and while it is stable, it’s not exactly impressive compared to other options.

Unless you specifically need the integration with Razer’s mobile controllers, especially the Kishi Ultra’s impressive haptic feedback system, you might not find much benefit in setting up this app on both your PC and Android phone.
