MWC 2025: Lenovo Teases Future Laptops With Solar Power And Foldable Screens

MWC 2025: On Monday, Lenovo showed off two new laptop ideas. One has a foldable screen, and the other can get extra battery power from solar energy.
Lenovo’s Bold Laptop Concepts Unveiled at MWC 2025
These laptops are just concepts right now, so they aren’t for sale. Lenovo, the world’s largest PC maker, is known for showing creative ideas, some of which later become real products, so it’s good to pay attention to what they’re working on.
For example, Lenovo once introduced the idea of a rollable laptop, where the screen rolls up to make the display bigger. The company plans to start selling this type of laptop later this year.
The latest ideas were revealed at the Mobile World Congress or MWC 2025 event in Barcelona.
Foldable laptop screen
The Lenovo ThinkBook ‘flip’ concept is a laptop with a foldable screen. When fully opened, the screen is 18 inches.
You can fold the screen in half horizontally to create two separate screens – one on the front and one on the back.
The whole display can also be folded flat, turning the laptop into a tablet-like device.
Foldable screens aren’t new. Brands like Samsung and Honor have already released smartphones with foldable displays, and Huawei even sells a phone with a trifold screen.
However, foldable screens of this size, especially on laptops, are rare.
Lenovo will likely need to do more work before this can become a product people can buy, including making the display more durable.
Solar powered laptop
The Lenovo Yoga Solar PC is another concept from the company, named after its Yoga laptop line, that was unvelied at MWC 2025
This device has solar panels on the back that can absorb light.
While it still works with a regular charger, the idea is that the solar power can provide extra battery life when the laptop is running low and there’s no access to a charger.
Lenovo mentioned that the solar panels can even absorb ambient light around the user, adding about an extra hour of laptop use after a full eight-hour workday.
