Apple Computer 1 (1976)

The Apple Computer 1 was the first ever product from the American company. It was a PC card that was dubbed as “the first low-cost microcomputer system” with a video terminal and 8K bytes of RAM. When it was launched in 1976, it came at a cost of  $666.66 (amounting to $2,772.29 today). 

Macintosh 128K (1984)

Macintosh 128K was the first Macintosh personal computer from Apple. It became popular after the iconic “1984” Super Bowl commercial. The computer ran on a Twiggy floppy disk drive, but Apple switched to the 400K Sony 3.5-inch disk drive due to high error rates.

Apple PowerBook 100, 140, and 170 (1991)

Apple’s PowerBook 100 became a rage when it was launched in 1991. It won several awards for its portable design. It sported a 9-inch monochrome display, a 640×400-pixel resolution and a trackball built into the keyboard. It got other  iterations- the 100 and 170- before being discontinued in 1992.

Newton MessagePad (1993)

Launched in 1993, the MessagePad was back then what iPad is to us now. It debuted as Apple’s first personal digital assistant device which ran on the Newton operating system. It came with a stylus and featured handwriting recognition.

Apple iMac G3 (1998)

The iMac was Apple’s first major product released under CEO Steve Jobs following his return to the financially troubled company he co-founded. Jobs reorganized the company and simplified the product line. With its quirky look, translucent body and bright color options, the iMac was designed as Apple’s new consumer desktop product—an inexpensive, consumer-oriented computer that would easily connect to the Internet.

Apple PowerBook G4 (2001)

The PowerBook G4 became an alternative to Windows laptops that were bulky and made of black or gray plastic. Apple’s laptop, on the other hand, had a silver titanium body and sharp corners. It was sleek, and elegant, and its minimalistic design was a preface for the MacBook Pro series.

Apple iPod (2001)

Launched in 2001, iPod became a successful audio player. Back in the day, the iPod stored up to 1,000 songs dominating the MP3 player landscape.
