Google Expands Redesigned Quick Share Beyond Galaxy Phones

Google Expands Redesigned Quick Share Beyond Galaxy Phones

Google is officially rolling out the redesigned Quick Share interface to more Android devices, meaning it’s no longer just a perk for Galaxy phone users.

Quick Share has been around for a while, but its interface always felt a little basic. Earlier this year, there were hints that a new design was on the way, and now users are finally starting to see it in action. First spotted by Android Authority, the refresh gives the file-sharing tool a cleaner, more polished look.

  • Testing Phase Before Full Rollout
  • A Step Toward Smarter Sharing

The updated design takes inspiration from One UI 8’s Quick Share layout, offering a full-screen experience with clear tabs for sending and receiving files.

Small Tweaks That Make a Big Difference

In the past, Quick Share was mostly tucked away as a settings page where you could adjust your device name and visibility. Now it feels far more user-friendly. Your device name is highlighted right at the top, and there’s a new “Sharing with you” section that shows devices currently sending files your way.

The “Send” screen has also been improved with a built-in file picker, so you don’t have to dig around elsewhere to find what you want to share. You can select multiple files at once and get a neat preview of them before sending. The layout still includes the familiar “Send to your devices” and “Send to nearby devices” options, with the latter moved toward the bottom for easy access.

Testing Phase Before Full Rollout

Right now, Google is testing this refreshed version of Quick Share on a handful of devices, and a full rollout is still pending. This update builds on last year’s big change when Google combined Nearby Share and Quick Share into a single platform to simplify wireless sharing across Android.

There’s no set date yet for the full release, but with some devices already seeing the update, it looks like it’s just around the corner.

A Step Toward Smarter Sharing

Quick Share has grown far beyond its Samsung roots, and support for the Apple ecosystem is currently being tested. For anyone juggling multiple devices, it’s becoming a reliable go-to for fast, secure, and seamless sharing.

The redesign may not be revolutionary, but it’s exactly the kind of quality-of-life update that makes everyday wireless sharing feel smoother and easier.
