The Find My app is one of those features most Apple users have but don’t always fully use. It’s free, already built into your device, and does a lot more than just help you find a lost phone. Over the years, Apple merged its older apps into this one, and now everything feels a lot more simple and easy to manage. Once you start using it properly, it’s hard to ignore how useful it actually is.
What makes the Find My app so useful?
Track your friends and family when it matters
The People section lets you share your location with someone you trust. You can keep it temporary or leave it on, depending on what you need. It’s helpful in everyday situations, like meeting up or making sure someone got home safely. You can also set alerts, so you know when someone arrives or leaves a place.
Find your Apple devices without stress
In the Devices tab, you’ll see all the Apple products connected to your account. If something goes missing, you can quickly check where it is or make it play a sound if it’s nearby. Most of the time, it ends up being somewhere simple, but having that option saves a lot of time.
Lock your device if it’s actually lost
If you can’t find your device at all, Lost Mode becomes really useful. It locks the device, turns off certain features, and lets you leave a message on the screen. So if someone finds it, they can contact you directly. It’s a simple feature, but it makes a big difference.
Keep track of everyday items too
With things like Apple AirTag, you can also track items like bags or keys. Even if they’re not nearby, you’ll still see the last known location. That alone can save you from a lot of unnecessary stress.
Everything in one place
What makes it better now is that everything is in one app. You don’t have to switch between different tools or settings. It’s all there, easy to use, and does exactly what you need without overcomplicating anything.
