WhatsApp is officially rolling out WhatsApp Plus to select iPhone users, introducing a new subscription-based experience packed with customization tools, premium stickers, themes, and expanded chat controls.
The feature is currently limited to some users running WhatsApp for iOS version 26.17.74, but the company says wider availability will expand gradually over the coming weeks.
WhatsApp Plus was first spotted during Android testing, and its arrival on iOS marks Meta’s latest attempt to add premium personalization features without changing the core messaging experience.
What Is WhatsApp Plus?
WhatsApp Plus is an optional monthly subscription plan designed for users who want more control over how the app looks and behaves.
Importantly, the subscription does not affect regular messaging, calls, or privacy protections for standard users. Non-subscribers will still have access to all core WhatsApp features without restrictions.
Instead, WhatsApp Plus focuses mainly on:
- App customization
- Premium visual features
- Expanded chat controls
- Additional personalization tools
The subscription is currently available only for personal WhatsApp accounts and is not supported on WhatsApp Business.
Premium Stickers and Animated Effects

Access to premium sticker packs is one of the biggest additions to the latest version of WhatsApp Plus.
The stickers will include animated overlay effects that can be viewed directly inside a chat window.
Non-subscribers may also be able to view stickers sent to them by premium users, but they will not have access to or be able to use any of the premium sticker packs.
The purpose of this new feature is to enhance the visual interactivity of chatting on WhatsApp Plus, especially for younger users who frequently use stickers and reactions in their conversations.
iPhone Users Can Finally Change WhatsApp Themes

Perhaps the most requested feature arriving with WhatsApp Plus is deeper app customization.
Subscribers can choose from 18 different colour themes, replacing WhatsApp’s traditional green interface with alternative styles, including Royal Purple, Deep Navy, Forest Green, Burgundy, Golden Yellow, Coral Orange and Charcoal Grey.
Once selected, the chosen accent colour is applied across the app interface, giving users a more personalized look throughout chats and menus.
This brings WhatsApp closer to competitors like Telegram and Discord, which already offer extensive interface customization.
WhatsApp Plus Adds 14 New App Icons

Subscribers also gain access to 14 alternate app icons for the iPhone home screen.
The icon collection includes minimalist black-and-white styles, outlined designs, colourful variants, and more stylized options with decorative visual effects.
It’s a relatively small addition, but one clearly targeted at users who enjoy personalizing their phone setup and app aesthetics.
One of the more practical upgrades in WhatsApp Plus is the expanded chat pinning feature.
Standard WhatsApp currently limits users to pinning three conversations at the top of the chat list. With WhatsApp Plus, subscribers can pin up to 20 chats simultaneously.
For users managing multiple group chats, work conversations, or family threads, this could become one of the subscription’s most useful features.
Advanced Chat List Controls
WhatsApp Plus provides users with smarter organization tools for their chat conversations.
The app allows you to apply configuration settings for an entire conversation list (e.g., assigning the same theme, notification sound, or ringtone to all conversations in a specific category) at once rather than having to set these properties individually for each conversation.
This feature allows users to make a bulk change to their conversations, which is currently unavailable in the stock version of WhatsApp.
New Premium Ringtones Included

The subscription also unlocks 10 exclusive ringtones with names including Flutter, Ripple, Flux, Meadow, and Carnival.
These tones are designed to make WhatsApp calls feel more distinct compared to standard smartphone notifications.
While not a major feature on its own, it further pushes WhatsApp Plus toward becoming a more customizable messaging experience.
Pricing and Availability
WhatsApp Plus currently operates on a monthly subscription model.
Pricing varies by region, with reports showing:
- €2.49 per month in Europe
- PKR 229 per month in Pakistan
- $29 per month in Mexico
Users can manage or cancel subscriptions directly through the Apple App Store. WhatsApp may also offer limited free trials in some regions.
At launch, the subscription remains limited to select iOS users, meaning many users may not yet see the option inside app settings.
With the release of WhatsApp Plus, Meta is looking to expand its monetization strategy into app personalization over time.
WhatsApp now seems to aim at appealing to its power users and younger demographics through additional options rather than by charging users for access to all its most important messaging functionalities.
