Do you ever take forever to reply to friends and family? You’re not alone. Luckily, there’s a super simple iPhone hack that can help you keep on top of important messages, and it’s a total game-changer if you struggle to stay in touch.
Struggling to Reply? Try This iPhone Hack
First things first: make sure your iPhone is updated to iOS 14 or later. This iPhone hack works on models as old as the iPhone 6S, all the way up to the latest iPhone 15, according to Apple.
Here’s how it works. Faris Memon, a tech specialist at Vivid Ads, told the Mirror: “If you get a text you can’t answer straight away, pin the conversation to remind yourself to reply later. Once you’ve messaged back (usually at the end of the day), you can unpin it and it’ll go back to the regular list.”
To try it out, just open your Messages app. Tap and hold on the conversation you want to prioritise, and it’ll pop up in a big bubble at the top of your screen, above all your other chats.
Faris added: “Alternatively, [you can] tap ‘Edit’ in the top left corner [of your Messages app], then select ‘Edit Pins’. Here, you’ll see yellow thumbtacks next to each conversation. Tap the ones you want to pin, then hit ‘Done’ to save. Remember, you can pin up to nine chats at once.”
Worried About Delayed Replies? Turn Off Read Receipts
Pretty handy, right? But if you’re also worried that taking a while to reply might come off as rude, there’s another quick fix: turning off read receipts.
Those are the little notifications that let people know you’ve seen their message and sometimes how long you’ve left them waiting. To switch them off, open your Settings app, scroll down to Messages, then look for the toggle that says Send Read Receipts. When it’s green, they’re on. Tap it so it turns grey, and you’re all set. From then on, people will only see that their message was Delivered, not Read.
