Huawei Watch Kids X1 Series Features, Safety Tools, and Specifications

Huawei has expanded its wearable lineup with the launch of the new Watch Kids X1 series, introducing two child-focused smartwatches designed around safety, communication, and health tracking.

The company unveiled the Huawei Watch Kids X1 and Huawei Watch Kids X1 Pro during its Innovative Product Launch event in Bangkok alongside several other wearable announcements.

The new smartwatches aim to give parents stronger location tracking and communication tools while offering children features similar to modern premium smartwatches.

Huawei focuses heavily on child safety features

The safety ecosystem is one of the key features of Watch Kids X1.  Each of these devices offers Dual-Band GNSS positioning capabilities, Dual-Band Wi-Fi Indoor Assist, and cellular connectivity.

All these things combine to make tracking a child’s location more precise than before in real time!

Through the use of Huawei’s FamCare Application, parents and guardians can track the child’s activity status continuously without competing with other parents who may also have a child being monitored through Mobile Devices (over 20 million people in South America alone are using the device).

Here’s a quick list of what this App comes equipped with:

  • Real-time location tracking
  • Safe zone and danger zone alerts
  • Usage time controls
  • Focus mode settings
  • Video calling support

Parents can receive notifications when children enter or leave designated areas, adding another layer of safety and monitoring.

Huawei also allows guardians to video call children directly through the smartwatch cameras.

Watch Kids X1 and X1 Pro specifications

Both models come with a 1.82-inch AMOLED display and a 360-degree flippable screen design.

Huawei has equipped the watches with:

  • 5MP ultra-wide front camera
  • 13MP rear camera
  • Heart rate sensor
  • Gyroscope
  • Accelerometer
  • Magnetometer

The detachable watch face on the Huawei Watch Kids X1 Pro also allows children to use the device separately as a handheld camera.

What’s the difference between the X1 and X1 Pro?

The two smartwatches are largely similar in terms of health tracking and core safety tools, but differ mainly in storage.

The standard Huawei Watch Kids X1 comes with:

  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB storage

Meanwhile, the Huawei Watch Kids X1 Pro features:

  • 2GB RAM
  • 64GB storage

The Pro model also includes the detachable camera functionality.

Pricing and availability

The Watch Kids X1 (regular version) from Huawei has been priced at €249, whereas the Pro version starts at €349.

The launch also coincides with the increasing number of competitors entering the kids’ smartwatch market, as parent control and GPS tracking become more common amongst brands, with communication features being added alongside already established fitness features.

The devices released by Huawei also follow a trend emerging across wearable technology, by offering manufacturers a shift from wearable devices being viewed as just accessory gadgets to being viewed as connected devices supporting family safety.
