Google’s Shielded Email Could End Spam Forever – Here’s How
Shielded Email by Google helps keep your Gmail identity hidden online. Learn how this free Android privacy feature protects you from spam, phishing and fraud.

Google’s New Shielded Email Will Keep Your Gmail Safe
Your personal email will now stay private during online sign-ups
Whenever we try to use a website or service on the internet, we often need to sign up first. The very first thing asked is our email ID and that’s where issues like data leaks and spam usually begin. But now Google is working on a new feature called Shielded Email that can reduce the data leak issue.
What is Shielded Email?

Shielded Email is an email forwarding technique that provides you a random private Gmail address. This address works as a secret Gmail which do not have direct access to your real Gmail address and it forwards all the emails to your real inbox without exposing your original Gmail address. The main goal of this feature is to protect your identity and data.
This works the same as Apple’s Hide My Email feature, but while Apple offers it only to iCloud+ users, Google will offer it free for Android users.
How does Shielded Email work?
This feature is being added to Android’s Autofill system and works with the Google Password Manager. Whenever you try to sign up for a new app or website, Shielded Email will automatically suggest an alternate email ID.
Main Features in this process:
Feature | Description |
---|---|
Email Forwarding Alias | A random Gmail address that sends your emails to your main inbox |
Spam Control | Option to turn off forwarding to block unwanted emails |
Free for Android Users | Available for free to all Android users |
Integrated with Autofill | Works with Autofill to make sign-ups easier |
Hide Primary Email ID | Keeps your original email ID private and safe |
