This guide will show you how to add any type of account on your Android phone – what settings to use, where to find the options, and what steps to follow.

What you need before starting:

  • Android phone or tablet with internet

  • Username or email and password of the account

  • If two-step verification is on, keep your backup device or method ready

  • The phone should be updated to the latest software version

The name of the settings option may be different on every device

Different phone brands use different names for the same purpose: managing accounts. On your phone, these options may be:

  • Xiaomi/Realme/Oppo: Users & accounts

  • Samsung: Accounts and backup → Manage accounts

  • Pixel/Motorola: Passwords, passkeys and accounts

  • Older phones: Accounts, Accounts & sync

Full process: How to add any account to an Android phone

Step 1: Open Settings

Here, you will see many options like:

  • Google – for Gmail, Drive, Photos

  • Telegram – for syncing messages and backups

  • WhatsApp – for restoring chats from cloud

  • Truecaller, Exchange, Meet, etc.

Tap on the one you want to add.

Step 5: Enter your login information

  • Now you have to enter your username/email and password. If the account has two-step verification, you will also need to confirm it using OTP or prompt.
  • After login is complete, the account will be added to your phone and syncing will begin.

What if it’s a work or app-specific account?

If you are adding a work account (Google Workspace, Microsoft Exchange) or an app-based login (Telegram, Truecaller), your phone may ask for extra permissions or settings like:

  • Setting a screen lock

  • Allowing special app access

  • Separating apps into Work and Personal sections

This is normal and helps keep your phone secure.

If login is not working, what to do?

1. Wrong username/password?

  • First check if the information you entered is correct

  • If you forgot, use “Forgot password” option

2. Internet issue?

  • Make sure Wi-Fi or mobile data is working

  • Wait a bit and try again

3. OTP not received?

  • Try to verify using a backup number or device

  • Accept the prompt within time limit

What happens after your account is added?

  • The account data (messages, contacts, backup, etc.) will sync

  • You can use this account in multiple apps

  • Each account can be managed separately in sync settings
