How To Delete Watch History On YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video
Following are the steps by which you can delete your watch history from video streaming platforms like YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video
When you watch a movie or a TV show on streaming apps, your activities are being tracked. More often, it is to make your watching experience better and convenient. You can pick up on the content where you left off at another time or on another device by just logging into your account. The app can even serve you more relevant recommendations or notify contents that you might like.
While such streaming apps facilitate a good quality of TV experience, there are some valid reasons why you might want to edit your viewing history or delete it altogether.
First and foremost is the privacy issue. Sharing your account with family members or others at home might sometimes become unpleasant. And secondly, the apps throw up recommendations. Deleting your viewing history will limit these recommendations and provide you only relevant contents.
How To Delete Watch History On YouTube
When you’re logged into YouTube on the web, you can click History in the left-hand navigation panel to view what you’ve been watching off late, and click X next to any video to wipe it from your watch history.
On the same screen, you’ve got options to Clear all watch history and Pause watch history. You can also choose Manage all history, which provides you a full list of everything you’ve ever watched on YouTube. From here you can search for videos, browse by date, and remove some or all of the videos from your watch history.
From the mobile YouTube app, tap You and then View all next to the History leading to the same options. Click the three dots next to a video and then Remove from watch history to delete individual items or the three dots up in the top right corner of the screen to manage your watch history in more detail.
How To Delete Watch History On Netflix
Go on to the Netflix website, hover the cursor over your profile picture on the top-right and choose Account and Manage Profiles, and click on your profile. Select Viewing Activity to see everything you’ve watched recently.
Each item in the list has a Hide button on the right. If you tap Hide, that title will no longer alter your recommendations and will not show up on Netflix as having been watched. For instance, if you hide one episode of a show, you’ll be asked if you want to hide the entire series. There’s also a Hide All button at the end of the list.
You will not be able to access this list in full from inside the Netflix mobile apps, though you can hide titles you’ve watched lately. Click My Netflix, then scroll down to the recently watched section. Tap on the three dots on any thumbnail to find the Hide From Watch History option.
How To Delete Watch History On Apple TV+
In the TV app on macOS, choose the TV menu and select Settings. Under the Advanced tab is a Clear Play History button. This will reset the list of everything you have ever watched and you can’t choose individual titles.
Remove individual titles from the Up Next bar on the main screen. Tap the three dots next to any thumbnail and you can select Remove From Up Next and Remove From Recently Watched to hide the evidence that you have seen it. The show will still be marked as watched if you search for it.
The same options will be given if you click the three dots next to a show or movie thumbnail in the TV app for iOS and iPadOS. To delete your watch history on a mobile device, click your profile picture on the top- right, then Clear Play History.
How To Delete Watch History On Amazon Prime Video
If you want to delete your watching history on Amazon Prime Video on the web, click your account name on top-right, then Account & Settings, and then open the Watch History tab to view the movies and TV shows you have been watching off late.
However, you will not be able to search through this list or delete items in bulk. All you can do is select the Delete Movie From Watch History and Delete Episodes From Watch History links on the right to remove the items from the history of your Prime Video. You might take some time if you want to delete everything.
There is no provision to access your watch history list through the mobile Prime Video app. However, you can delete items from the continue watching bar. Press and hold on the thumbnail, then select Hide This Video.
