First Look Of OnePlus 13 Surfaces Online: Here’re The Major Updates Expected

One of the highly anticipated smartphones of the year, OnePlus 13 is set to be unveiled by the end of October in China and subsequently in other markets. Although its official launch date has not been confirmed yet, speculations surrounding the upcoming phone have garnered the attention of enthusiasts.
Ahead of its official launch, leaked images of the OnePlus 13 have surfaced on Chinese social media site Weibo leading to numerous rumours around its features and specifications. Here is what to expect from the company’s flagship smartphone of the year.
Subtle change in design from OnePlus 12
In the leaked image, OnePlus 13 appears to borrow many aesthetic elements from its predecessor OnePlus 12. However, the OnePlus 13 features a few changes, including the Hasselblad logo, which now extends from the camera module and is prominently placed in the top right corner of the device. Additionally, there is a new metallic strip running from the camera module towards the edges, giving it a a slightly different look compared to OnePlus12.
Powered by Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset
One of the most talked-about features of the OnePlus 13 is its processor. It might well be the first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is expected to be officially unveiled during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on October 22.
Previously referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is set to bring major improvements in performance and power efficiency, making it one of the fastest smartphones in the world, offering top-notch CPU, GPU, NPU performance to aid multitasking, gaming, and AI features. Additionally, the OnePlus 13 is also said to include a self-developed Tidal Engine and Aurora Engine to further optimize the system and enhance performance.
OnePlus 13: Expected features and specifications
The OnePlus 13 is said to feature a 6.8-inch BOE’s X2 LTPO AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 6,000 nits and 1,600 nits in high brightness mode (HBM). It is expected to come with a massive 6,000mAh battery and an IP68/69 rating for water resistance. It could also feature a support for 100W fast charging and 50W magnetic wireless charging.
Another major boost for the OnePlus 13 will likely be the addition of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, compared to an optical sensor on its predecessor. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are generally believed to be faster and safer than optical sensors and can also be used even with wet or dirty fingers.
OnePlus 13 might be equipped with a 50 MP main camera that uses the Sony Lytia LYT-808 sensor, and the ultrawide with Samsung’s ISOCELL JN1, while the 3x zoom periscope telephoto camera could feature a Sony Lytia LYT-600 sensor. According to the leaks, the device might sport a 16-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture and EIS.

On the connectivity front, OnePlus 13 is said to offer 5G, 4G LTE, W-Fi, Bluetooth, and Near Field Communication (NFC).
The smartphone is likely to offer at least 12 GB of RAM, going up to 16 GB on the high-end variant with 256/512 GB of internal storage.
