iPhone 16e: With the launch of the new iPhone, Apple discontinued these three models, what was the problem?
Apple has recently launched the new iPhone 16e, but with this, the company has also given a big shock. iPhone 16e is an entry-level iPhone of Apple which is currently the lowest priced for the new model. iPhone 16e has a 6.1-inch OLED screen. Apart from this, it has a powerful A18 Bionic chipset which is the company’s flagship chipset. With the launch of the iPhone 16e, Apple has discontinued its three iPhone models.
Three iPhone models discontinued
The iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus were removed from Apple’s official website. This means that now you can only buy the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16e (after February 28), iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus from Apple’s official website.
As usual, the iPhone 15 Pro models were also discontinued after the launch of the iPhone 16 series. The iPhone SE 3, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus have not been completely discontinued. These devices will still be available on e-commerce websites like Amazon and others, but they cannot be purchased from Apple’s official website.
iPhone 16e priced higher but with a new name instead of SE 4
This strategy of Apple is considered interesting because the iPhone 16e, which was earlier expected to be called the iPhone SE 4, has been launched at a higher price than all the discontinued models. The starting price of the iPhone 16e in the US has been set at $599 for 128GB and $699 for 256GB, while the iPhone 15 price at $699 for just the 128GB variant. This price is equal to the 256GB variant of the iPhone 16e.
Specifications of iPhone 16e
The iPhone 16e has dual SIM (Nano+eSIM) support and runs on iOS 18. It has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR (1,170×2,532 pixels) OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800nits. The iPhone 16e display have Apple’s Ceramic Shield material.
Apple has used the 3nm A18 chip in the iPhone 16e, which was first seen with the iPhone 16 in September 2024. Up to 512GB of storage is provided with this. Talking about the camera, the iPhone 16e has a 48-megapixel camera on the rear panel with optical image stabilization (OIS) and the handset also has a 12-megapixel True Depth camera on the front for selfies and video calls. It also includes the sensors required for Face ID.
The iPhone 16e features stereo speakers and the handset offers 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS connectivity. It also supports Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite feature in select regions. It has the same USB Type-C port as previous iPhone models that support 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging support.
iPhone 16e Price
The starting price of the iPhone 16e in the USA is $599. The base model i.e. 128GB will be available at this price. At the same time, the price of 256GB is $699 and the price of 512GB is Rs $899. Pre-booking of iPhone 16e will start from February 21 and sale will start from February 28. iPhone 16e can be purchased in black and white color.
