Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak Reveals a Major Upgrade

The recently reported leak regarding the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra suggests that there may be improvements in performance based on the development of the device’s chip.

Initial indications point to Samsung’s continuing use of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon processor for its next Ultra phone, rather than its prior production process of manufacturing Exynos chips.

One potential reason for this decision is that Samsung already designed its S26 Ultra phone by using a Snapdragon processor, while bringing back Exynos devices in other phone lines.

Thus, it appears that Samsung has decided to continue using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips until such time as upgrading to their own brand of chip will provide a significant advantage over the competition.

A subtle clue from Qualcomm

The latest hint comes via Qualcomm itself. In a recent video celebrating 16 years of Snapdragon-powered Galaxy devices, the company ended with a pretty telling line about “more to come.”

It’s not official confirmation, but it doesn’t take much to connect the dots. Reports flagged by SamMobile suggest the S27 Ultra is once again being lined up with Snapdragon globally, which is a big deal for consistency and performance.

Next-gen chip could push serious power

We have good reason to believe that if the leaks are accurate, the Samsung S27 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s next premium mobile SoC, tentatively known as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

Regardless, this SoC has a lot to offer. Thus, the most notable improvement with this version will be its potential manufacturing method; it could be produced utilizing a 2nm fabrication process, which could allow for a higher level of performance and increased efficiency in terms of battery drain.

In addition, the Pro will also have a stronger GPU, bigger amounts of cache, and it will support faster types of memory (e.g., LPDDR6).

Essentially, we could see improvements in two major areas – how smoothly games run and how quickly you can switch between apps, and your ability to save battery power while doing these tasks.

Connectivity and future-ready upgrades

It’s not just raw power. The new chip is also expected to support upgrades like Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, along with improved 5G performance. These are the kind of features that don’t grab headlines but actually improve daily use over time.

What about Exynos?

Samsung isn’t ditching Exynos completely. The standard S27 and S27+ models are still expected to use Samsung’s in-house chips in several regions. But for the Ultra, Snapdragon seems to remain the safer bet, especially for users who care about consistent performance.

Nothing is officially confirmed yet, and Samsung isn’t expected to unveil the S27 lineup until early next year. Chip decisions can still change late in development.

But if this leak turns out to be accurate, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could easily end up being the most powerful Galaxy phone we’ve seen so far. And for anyone waiting for a real performance jump, this might be the one to watch.
