If you want a smartphone that comes with only the essential features and helps reduce screen time, then Light Phone 3 can be a good option for you. It is not a completely ‘dumb phone’, but it has basic smart features like navigation, fingerprint unlock and two cameras. However, there is neither a web browser nor support for social media apps, which encourages users to use this phone more focusedly and purposefully.

Light Phone 3 Price and Availability

The Light Phone 3 is priced at $799, but for a limited time and it can be pre-ordered for $599. Interestingly, the company will also keep Light Phone 2 available for sale, which is priced at only $299.

Features and specifications of Light Phone 3

This phone has a 3.92-inch AMOLED monochrome display, which is slightly different from the e-ink display of the previous model. This display is covered with matte glass, which makes it easy to see in sunlight and does not put much strain on the eyes.

The phone has a Qualcomm SM4450 chipset, which does not make it extremely powerful, but this phone has been designed keeping performance in mind. It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Apart from this, this phone comes with a fingerprint sensor, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 and eSIM support. However, some features like digital wallet will not be available at launch, but they can be added in the future.

Which features will not be supported?

Light Phone 3 has some essential features, such as on-device music playback (not streaming), navigation, alarm, timer, calculator, calendar, directory, notes/voice memos and a simple music/podcast player. However, the company says that web browser and social media apps will never be included in this phone, as it would be against the original purpose of the phone.

Battery and camera

The battery capacity of Light Phone 3 is 1,800mAh, which is almost double that of the previous model. For the first time, a basic rear camera has been added to it, which comes with a 50MP sensor and captures 12MP photos by default. Apart from this, an 8MP front camera has also been given in it.

Is Light Phone 3 better than the old model?

Light Phone 3 has been made better than the previous model in every respect, but the company does not consider it a direct replacement of Light Phone 2. Perhaps this is the reason why its price has been kept higher and some new features have been added to it.

Pre-order and shipping details

Pre-order bookings for the Light Phone 3 have started and the company estimates that customers who order now will get the phone delivered by July 2025. Pre-orders will be shipped on a first-come, first-served basis, so customers who order early will get delivery first.
