The Oura Ring 4 uses Smart Sensing technology for more accurate health and activity tracking. It also has heart rate and temperature sensors, like other fitness trackers.
Oura Ring 4 Price and Availability:
The Oura Ring 4 is priced at $349 and comes in 12 sizes, ranging from size 4 to size 15. It is available in six colors: Black, Brushed Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and Stealth.
The company says the ring can be pre-ordered through select channels in the US, UK, and some European countries, with shipping starting on October 15.
Tom Hale, Oura CEO while talking about the new Oura Ring 4 said, “Oura Ring is designed to be a personal health companion, giving our members a holistic view of their health by pairing personal data with meaningful, actionable insights to facilitate long-term changes. The next-generation Oura Ring 4, reimagined Oura App, and the development of the Smart Sensing platform represent significant steps forward for wearables across accuracy, comfort, personalization, and design.”
Oura Ring 4 Specifications, Features:
The Oura Ring 4 is made of lightweight, non-allergenic titanium and is water resistant up to 100 meters. It uses Smart Sensing technology with an advanced algorithm to provide more accurate health and activity data.
The ring has red and infrared LEDs that measure blood oxygen levels while you sleep, and green and infrared LEDs to track heart rate, heart rate variability, and respiration during sleep. An accelerometer tracks your movements and activities throughout the day and a sensor measures temperature changes in your body.
“We asked ourselves these questions,” said Jason Russell, the company’s vice president of consumer software product, discussing the Oura Ring 4. “How can we give you a more complete picture of your health? How can we make this more comfortable? How can we make this for more people?”
“Not all fingers are the same,” Russell added. “We have different skin tones. Our arteries and veins are in different positions, and that can result in variation in signal quality.”
While no Oura Ring models, including the Oura Ring 4, can detect sleep apnea signals, and the company doesn’t claim they can, Russell noted that the data on breathing disturbances collected by the ring could be useful for showing your doctor if you suspect sleep apnea.
“This is going to help it be an even stronger tool, because we’re just able to detect more breathing disturbances than we would have with Gen 3,” Russell explained.
The updated Oura App now provides detailed insights into stress, activity, and reproductive health. Oura Labs, which lets users try new features, is now available on both iOS and Android devices.
The Oura Ring 4 is said to last up to eight days on a single charge. Charging time ranges from 20 to 80 minutes, depending on the battery level. It comes with a size-specific charger and a USB Type-C cable. The ring supports Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. It measures 7.90mm in width and 2.8mm in thickness, and weighs between 3.3g and 5.2g, depending on the size.
