Asus ROG Phone 9 Series With Snapdragon 8 Elite: Experience Ultimate Gaming With Bigger Battery, Extra Cooling
The new devices from the Taiwanese smartphone maker come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Asus ROG Phone 9 series sports AMOLED displays and is IP68 rated.
Asus ROG Phone 9 series has been launched as the latest gaming smartphones in select markets. The lineup includes ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro.
The new devices from the Taiwanese smartphone maker come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Asus ROG Phone 9 series sports AMOLED displays and is IP68 rated.
ROG Phone 9 models house a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 sensor and have a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Both smartphones feature an AniMe Vision auxiliary display on the back panel, equipped with customisable LEDs for animations, interactions, and gaming.
Asus ROG Phone 9 Series: Features
Both dual-SIM (Nano) Asus ROG Phone 9 series handsets have a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) Samsung AMOLED LTPO display with up to 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support. The display has Always-On support and is touted to deliver 2,500nits peak brightness. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
The ROG Phone 9 devices on Android 15-based ROG UI and are powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (9,600Mbps) and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage on the vanilla model and up to 24GB and 1TB on the Pro.
For optics, the Asus ROG Phone 9 handsets feature a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 1/1.56-inch sensor with f1/9 aperture and a 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view. The ROG Phone 9 Pro has a 32-megapixel sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom, while the vanilla model packs a 5-megapixel macro camera.
On the front, both ROG Phone 9 phones sport a 32-megapixel RGBW camera with 1.4µm binning. The camera unit supports several AI features including AI Object Sense, AI HyperClarity, and AI HyperClarity among others.
The Asus ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro are backed by a 5,800mAh battery with 65W wired charging support and 15W wireless charging support. The fast charging technology can charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in 46 minutes, as claimed by the company. Both phones have an IP68-certified build for dust and water resistance.
Connectivity options on the Asus ROG Phone 9 phones include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, GNSS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, gyroscope, air trigger and a proximity sensor. They come with an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication and have a face recognition feature.
The handsets in Asus ROG Phone 9 series have three microphones with support for the company’s in-house noise reduction technology. They support Dirac Virtuo technology and boast Hi-Res Audio certification. They support AI-based gaming features including X sense, X capture, and AI grabber.
Both models have AniMe Vision –the ROG Phone 9 has 85 LEDs, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro has 648 LEDs. The AniMe Vision on the Pro has enough resolution to render text. One can upload GIFs to add animations instead- or even games! There are four retro games- including Breakout, Snake, Invaders- that can be played on the back of the phone using the AirTriggers.
The Asus ROG Phone 9 devices feature 57% larger graphite sheet compared to the predecessor for better cooling. The AeroCase has optional Chill Case feature ‘Audio Redirection’ which redirects the sound from the bottom-firing speaker forward offering a better stereo experience.
The AeroActive Cooler X Pro packs a subwoofer and adds two hardware shoulder buttons paired up with AirTriggers. This has 12.5% larger fan blades and more thermal compound, promising 29% better cooling.
Asus will deliver two OS updates to the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro and will issue security updates for five years.

Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 9: Price and Availability
The Asus ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro is open to pre-order now. In Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China, they will start shipping on November 20. In Europe (including the UK), shipping will start in December. The US release is set for January 2025. Notably, the Edition model comes with an AeroActive Cooler X Pro
Asus Phone 9 starts at Euro 1,099 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model.
Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is listed at Euro 1,200 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB configuration model.
The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition costs Euro 1,500 for the sole 24GB RAM + 1TB storage variant.
The Asus ROG Phone 9 is available in Phantom Black and Storm White colourways. The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro and ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition comes only in Storm White.
