NASA to Launch SPHEREx: The Most Colorful Map of the Universe
NASA's SPHEREx telescope to launch soon, creating the most colorful map of the universe by analyzing 96 light bands. Discover new insights into star clusters and space chemistry.

NASA’s new telescope will create the ‘most colorful’ map of the universe
America’s space agency NASA will soon launch a new telescope. NASA says that it will create the ‘most colorful’ map of the universe till date. This telescope, called SPHEREx, is not very large in size but it will provide a large amount of information in its nearly two-year mission.
It is an infrared telescope designed to take spectroscopic images. Spectroscopic images measure different wavelengths of light from a source. This will provide important information about the universe and the growth of star clusters. Along with this, it will also indicate the location of water in space. This mission will be launched on February 27. Every object in the universe spreads light in different colors. Our eyes divide all these lights into three bands. SPHEREx will divide the light from each spot in the sky into 96 bands.
This will provide new information about the chemistry and physics of objects in the universe. This mission will strengthen the function of other infrared telescopes present in space. These include the James Webb Space Telescope and the Hubble Space Telescope. Both these telescopes are designed to take high-resolution measurements of the faintest objects in space. Despite this, they can study only a very small part of the sky. For example, the sky is 15 million times larger than what the James Webb Space Telescope can observe at one time.
NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, who has been stuck on the International Space Station (ISS) for several months, may return to Earth next month. Recently, NASA had said that the Crew-10 mission for the ISS is targeted to be launched on March 12 instead of March 25. Williams’ fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore will also be brought on this mission. NASA has said that the Crew-10 mission will use SpaceX’s spacecraft Endurance, which has flown before, instead of a new spacecraft. NASA and billionaire Elon Musk’s company SpaceX are assessing its hardware to ensure the standards related to the safety and certification of this spacecraft. Earlier, Endurance has completed three missions – Crew-3, Crew-5 and Crew-7.
