AirPods Pro 3 was expected to arrive at Apple’s Glowtime event last September when the company launched iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and AirPods 4. However, a third-gen Pro model never saw the light of the day.
Now there are speculations that the much-anticipated AirPods Pro 3 might debut this year. Here’s everything we know about the purported AirPods Pro 3.
AirPods Pro 3: What to expect
While AirPods Pro 3 is likely to inherit all of the features of its predecessor, some dramatic changes are also expected. Multiple reports suggest Apple is planning a redesign for both the earbuds and the charging case. This indicates the next iteration may sport a fresh appearance compared to their predecessors, which have maintained a similar design since the original AirPods Pro.
Under the hood, one can expect sonic improvements, with Apple adding a faster audio processor. This has been a consistent trend with each AirPods iteration. Perhaps more intriguing however are rumors of “much better” Active Noise Cancellation capabilities compared to the already impressive AirPods Pro 2.
The Pro 3 version might arrive with Health features. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is developing heart rate monitoring technology that could be ready for Pro 3. Apple’s upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2 is said to offer heart rate monitoring during workouts.

Based on our iOS 18 code findings, users will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other supported apps on the iPhone.
Apple is reportedly also developing new sensors that could allow the earbuds to measure body temperature from within the ear canal. This aligns with the company’s broader push into health monitoring across its product line, but whether the sensor will be ready in time for next year’s model is unknown.
In terms of design, the the earpieces are likely to stick with the classic white, rounded-square look. As for battery life, while there is hope for some upgrades, it is likely they will still provide about 30 hours of listening time per charge, which is not bad at all.

- Sweat and water-resistant (IPX4) for AirPods Pro 3 earbuds and charging case

- Wired charging via USB Type-C
AirPods Pro 3: Release date
It was believed that Apple AirPods Pro 3 would debut in late 2024 or early 2025. Now that 2024 is behind us, it’s likely to launch in 2025 in all probability.
