Bluetooth 6.0: How It Can Enhance Your Device’s Performance, Security
One of the main highlights in Bluetooth 6.0 is the Channel Sounding feature, which provides better spatial awareness for Bluetooth connections.
Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has officially rolled out Bluetooth 6.0 specifications and devices supporting it are expected to hit the market soon.
Unlike its predecessor which often only brings changes to the numbers and technical terms, Bluetooth 6.0 offers a number of real improvements that consumers can feel directly.
One of the main highlights in Bluetooth 6 is the Channel Sounding feature, which provides better spatial awareness for Bluetooth connections. This feature allows the device to detect each other’s positions with an accuracy close to one centimeter, promising Bluetooth connections that are more stable and fast.
Bluetooth Channel Sounding uses two distance measurement methods: Phase-Based Ranking (PBR) and Round Trip Timing (RTT), which work in tandem to provide accurate distance measurements of up to 150 meters. Additional security features are also applied to prevent on-path cyber attack.
The feature also incorporates various strong security features that help prevent distance spoofing and man-in-the-middle attacks. These include signal randomization, robust encryption, and the ability to cross-check signal path and distance between PBR and TFF measurements.
Apart from this, Bluetooth 6 also packs other new sets of features. Some of them include:
Decision-Based Advertising Filtering: This feature reduces data loss and increases speed by allowing the device to decide which data plans to search for in the secondary channel, saving battery energy.
Monitoring Advertisers: Allows the device to filter duplicate data packets from the sender device, thereby reducing latency and enhancing energy efficiency.
Isochronous Adaptation Layer Enhancement: This feature allows larger data breakdown to become a smaller package for better transfer speeds, while reducing latency.
Space Update Frame: With Bluetooth 6, the timing between data packets is negotiable and can be adjustable. This will improve connection stability.

Bluetooth 6 Availability
As of now, no device has been announced to support Bluetooth 6. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset supports this technology, so one can hope that device manufacturers will soon integrate Bluetooth 6 into their products.
With these several updates, Bluetooth 6 is expected to be able to enhance user experience on various devices, including digital keys, Find My networks, and other Bluetooth devices.
