Samsung Introduces Odyssey 3D With Glasses-Free 6K Display

Samsung has officially revealed the Odyssey 3D G90XH, a 32-inch 6K monitor that brings glasses-free 3D visuals to the desktop.

According to Samsung, the display uses real-time eye tracking to adjust depth and perspective based on where you are sitting. The result is a layered 3D image that works without headsets, special glasses, or any added hardware. This puts the Odyssey 3D in a very small category of desktop monitors experimenting with true stereoscopic visuals rather than full virtual reality gear.

A closer look at glasses-free 3D

The Odyssey 3D runs at a native refresh rate of 165Hz. Samsung’s Dual Mode lets users push that number up to 330Hz by lowering the resolution, which will appeal to gamers who value speed above all else.

Response time is rated at 1ms gray-to-gray, putting it firmly in gaming territory rather than traditional office or creative displays. To keep the 3D effect steady during long sessions, the monitor constantly tracks eye movement and fine-tunes depth alignment as you shift your position.

Samsung says supported PC games can take advantage of software-level improvements that boost object separation, terrain depth, and spatial clarity, offering more visual depth than standard 2D graphics.

Ultra-sharp resolution with some limits

With a resolution of 6144 x 3456, the Odyssey 3D G90XH delivers a diagonal pixel count of roughly 7050. That works out to around 220 pixels per inch, far sharper than most 4K monitors and closer to high-end professional displays.

That said, the full 3D experience depends on supported software, which means the feature will not apply to every app or everyday workload.

More additions to the Odyssey family

Alongside the Odyssey 3D, Samsung also introduced several new Odyssey G8 monitors that combine high resolutions with variable refresh rates.

The company is expanding its Odyssey OLED G8 lineup with the 32-inch G80SH model. This version uses a 4K QD-OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, 300 nits of brightness, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. DisplayPort 2.1 with UHBR20 support allows up to 80Gbps of bandwidth, making it suitable for HDR content and smooth variable refresh performance.

Samsung also revealed the 32-inch Odyssey G8 G80HS, a 6K monitor that runs at 165Hz natively and can reach 330Hz in Dual Mode at a reduced 3K resolution. There is also a 27-inch Odyssey G8 G80HF, which works as a 5K display with up to 180Hz natively and up to 360Hz at QHD resolution.

All Odyssey models support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync, ensuring smoother gameplay across a wide range of graphics hardware.

Gaming roots with premium features

While the Odyssey lineup includes features often found in business-class monitors, Samsung continues to position it as a gaming-focused display family.

“With this year’s Odyssey lineup, we’re introducing display experiences that simply weren’t possible even a year ago,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

“From the industry’s first 6K glasses-free 3D monitor to breakthrough 1,040Hz speed, we designed these monitors to meet the ambitions of today’s gamers and deliver a level of immersion that fundamentally changes how content looks and functions on screen.”
