Perplexity has introduced a new feature called Deep Research on its platform. The tool is capable of analyzing complex questions and generating answers and detailed reports with an in-depth understanding of topics. This new feature has been added to the Model Picker and it is available to all users. The company claims that the tool responds faster than a similar tool from OpenAI, with an average output time of three minutes.
Deep Research: The new revolution in AI
After Google and OpenAI, Perplexity has now become the latest Silicon Valley company to bring an advanced AI feature called Deep Research. According to the company’s blog post, this feature uses Test Time Compute Expansion technology, which gives the AI an opportunity to spend more time on questions and understand them in detail. This gives the AI the ability to double-check the answer, evaluate alternative theories, and verify the conclusions.
Who can use the Deep Research feature?
Perplexity is rolling out this feature to all users, although Pro subscribers will get unlimited access to the tool, while free users will be allowed to ask a limited number of questions per day. Currently the feature is only available on the web version of Perplexity, but the company is planning to bring it to iOS, Android, and Mac apps soon.
How to use Deep Research?
Perplexity users can activate this feature by tapping on the Mode option below the text box, where the option for Deep Research will be found at the end of the list. After selecting it, the AI will automatically start answering questions using this function. The company claims that Deep Research responds in an average of three minutes, which is much faster than OpenAI’s tool, as OpenAI’s tool can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to respond.
