OnePlus phones are known for their smooth and speedy OxygenOS, and they have a neat trick called Quick Launch that can make your life a little easier. With this feature, you can open your favorite apps or functions straight from the lock screen without unlocking or swiping around looking for icons. Just a quick gesture and you are in.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to turning it on, setting it up, and making the most of it.
What is Quick Launch?
Quick Launch works with the in-display fingerprint sensor found on many newer OnePlus devices. Normally, when you place your finger on the sensor, your phone unlocks. But with Quick Launch, if you keep holding your finger there, a small menu pops up with up to six shortcuts you choose yourself.
From there, you just slide your finger to the shortcut you want, lift it, and the app or feature will open instantly.
How to Enable Quick Launch
You will need to have at least one fingerprint saved on your phone before you can use this feature. Once that is done, here is how to turn it on:
- Open Settings on your OnePlus phone.
- Find the Quick Launch option. Its location depends on your OxygenOS version:
On newer versions: Security & privacy > Face & Fingerprint Unlock > Fingerprint
On older versions: Utilities > Quick launch - Turn it on by tapping “Quick launch” and toggling it to the On position.
- You might be asked to enter your PIN or password to confirm.
How to Customize the Quick Launch Menu
This is where the magic happens because you get to pick what appears in your Quick Launch menu.
- In the Quick Launch settings, look for “Edit” or “Add shortcuts.”
- Choose your shortcuts. You can have up to six. These can be:
Apps you have installed
Functions inside apps such as “Start a new note” or “Open voice search” - Rearrange them so your most-used ones are easiest to reach. Just drag them into the order you like.
- Tap Done or the checkmark icon to save your changes.
How to Use Quick Launch
Once it is set up, using this feature is simple:
-
Wake your phone so you can see the fingerprint icon.
-
Hold your finger on the in-display fingerprint sensor.
-
Wait a moment after it unlocks, and you will see your shortcut menu appear in a semicircle.
-
Slide your finger to the shortcut you want.
-
Lift your finger, and the app or function will open instantly.
Why Quick Launch is Worth Using
This feature is not just a fun extra. It can actually save you a lot of time.
-
It is faster. Instead of unlocking your phone, finding the app, and tapping it, you can do it all in one motion.
-
It is personal. You choose the shortcuts that fit your life, whether that is snapping a quick photo, opening your notes, or jumping into a chat.
-
It feels natural. The slide-and-release gesture quickly becomes second nature.
Take a few minutes to set it up and you will see how much smoother your daily phone routine can be.
