Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro With Intel Lunar Lake Chip, AI Features Unveiled In South Korea

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro has been launched in its home country. The latest laptop from the South Korean company joins the Galaxy Book 5 series and comes with the new Intel Core Ultra series 2 processor dubbed Lunar Lake, Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, and Thunderbolt 4 ports. The device is studded with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, leveraging Microsoft’s Copilot+ platform as well as Galaxy AI — Samsung’s AI suite.

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro: Features, Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro has been rolled out in two sizes — 14-inch and 16-inch. It sports a Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen display with an anti-reflective coating on top and Vision Booster feature. 

The laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra Processor Series 2 (codenamed Lunar Lake) paired with a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU), supporting up to 47 trillion operations per second (TOPS).

Thanks to the NPU, it supports on-device AI capabilities. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro is a Microsoft Copilot+ PC and also houses Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite. This is the first device in the family to have the “AI Select” function, which is powered by Galaxy AI. It is a visual lookup feature similar to Google’s Circle to Search. Users can highlight a part of the screen by circling or drawing on it and search for it on the web. Further, it taps the NPU to access Optical Character Recognition (OCR), enabling them to select text from images and scan QR codes by circling on them.

With that NPU, Photo Remaster can upscale old photos. There is a real-time interpreter function, too, and Note Assist.

The device supports Microsoft’s Phone Link, which is the generic way to connect with an Android phone. Galaxy device owners can use the bespoke features such as Multi Control (use the keyboard and mouse to control phones and tablets), Second Screen (use a tablet as a second monitor) and Quick Share (easily move files, photos and documents between Galaxy devices).

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro is equipped with a webcam with Staggered HDR technology, a quad speaker setup, and Dolby Atmos support. 

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is equipped with a large battery that will last up to 25 hours on a single charge.

Connectivity options on Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro includeThunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro: Availability

Samsung says Galaxy Book 5 Pro will be available for purchase in South Korea starting January 2, 2025.

The laptop will be offered in two colourways — gray and silver.
