Meta: Meta’s mega AI event LlamaCon will be held in April, AI agents can be launched
Meta on Tuesday announced its first LlamaCon event. It will be a developer-focused conference in which the company will share information about its open-source artificial intelligence (AI) models, tools and future plans. Meta said that LlamaCon will be held on April 29, although more details related to it have not been shared at the moment. Apart from this, Meta’s annual developer event Meta Connect 2025 will be held in the second half of the year. In this event, the company will focus on mixed reality headsets, AI glasses and updates related to the metaverse.
What is LlamaCon?
Menlo Park-based tech giant Meta has announced its first AI-focused developer conference called LlamaCon. The name is a portmanteau of Llama (Large Language Model Meta AI) and Conference. At the event, the company will share information about future Llama models, AI agents and other development tools that developers can use in their apps and products.
Only the date of the LlamaCon event has been announced, while details about registration, possible announcements and sessions may be shared in the coming weeks. The event will likely be held in a hybrid format, meaning it can be accessed both in-person and online.
Llama is working on 4 models Meta
In January 2024, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the company is working on Llama 4 AI models. These models will be equipped with multimodal capabilities and unlock new use cases with agentic features. Also, Meta will focus on making the Meta AI chatbot more personalized.
Meta plans to invest heavily in AI
According to a TechCrunch report, Meta is planning to launch several new LLMs (Large Language Models) in the coming months, which will also include reasoning-based models. These will compete with advanced AI models from other major companies. According to the report, Meta is going to spend around $80 billion (about Rs 6.9 lakh crore) on AI-focused projects in the year 2024. This budget will be used for talent hiring and building AI data centers.
